Reims is the capital of Champagne region marked by a rich and long history. The city has existed for two millennia. In the gallo-roman era, Durocortorum was one of the most important cities in Roman Gaul.

Reims is the city of the coronation : 33 kings got crowned in Notre Dame Cathedral, from 9th to 19th century.



Reims rates four sites listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites:

  • Palais du Tau, former Archbishop' Palace, with its banquet hall, where coronation banquets for several thousand people were held from 990 to the last one in 1825
  • Saint-Remi Basilica, a Romanesque Benedictine Abbey church altered during the gothic era
  • Saint-Remi Abbey Museum, Museum of History and Archeology, with 12th and 13th centuries chapter room.
